Title:
Three months sample of Ontology-based student monitoring extracted from the national evaluation system of French Medical Schools.

Abstract
This dataset contains a sample of student working session on SIDES platform from april to september 2015: 316803 actions of answer to tests on ECN items for 936 students. The dataset is modeled using RDF paradigm, based on the schema of OntoSides ontology.

Context
In march 2013, the French authorities announced that in june 2016, the national ranking examen (ECN) will be on tablets.
The ECN cover 368 topics in detail and these are standardized across all universities.
The SIDES platform is currently used by all the french medical schools (53 over the country) for assessments and graduations. Since 2013 all the exams are electronic tablet-based. Furthermore, the students are free to access training tests on line for self-assessment. After three years of exploitation, 4 000 medical students are registered and more than 380 000 distinctive connections are recorded a month.
The SIDES platform is accessible every where and from any device with a standard web browser.
During the last two years more than 4 millions self-assessments has been performed by students on the national repository.

The goal of OntoSIDES is to empower the users (students and teachers) of the e-learning platform SIDES by providing them with means and incentives to be proactive in their learrning or teaching approach.
We have followed a knowledge-based approach based on the semi-automatic and modular construction a RDF knowledge base linking several kinds of data to a specialized \emph{domain ontology} that serves as a pivot high-level vocabulary of the query interface with users.
OntoSides is made of a taxonomy of 43 classes and a set of 40 properties among which 3 are defined by rules.
The class taxonomy is structured into 4 levels of specialization from 7 main classes, which respectively denote:
- the set of reference items of the French educational programme in Medicine
- the set of milestones (years, periods of practical internships) to register and validate by students to get their diploma,
- the sets of French cities, universities and medical schools,
- the categories of persons (students, academic staff, administrative staff) involved in medical studies,
- the types of (training or evaluation) pedagogical resources available in the SIDES platform
- the set of possible actions by students when using the SIDES pedagogical resources online.
The distinguishing point with standard relational databases (or with Excel sheets) is that grouping can be defined on properties that are not explicitly given but must be inferred.

File Description
- OntoSides_schema_VE.ttl & OntoSides_schema_VF.ttl: Ontology schema in english and french version
- OntoSides_sat_VE.ttl & OntoSides_sat_VF.ttl: Complete version of the ontology (english & french ones), populated with SIDES data source and rules. The saturation has been built on TopBraid Compposer for complete results with SPARQL queries.
